We purchased a guinea pig from a store that shall remain nameless, but whose name rhymes with “wet fart.” The first piggy they sold us was dead before the day was out; we brought his little body back and were given another one. After a couple of days, we thought our second piggy was sick, too—he was having trouble breathing, just like the first. We brought him back to the store twice, to get him some help, but both times they said he was fine. After two weeks, we *knew* he wasn’t fine and took him to the vet; she also knew he wasn’t fine, and despite her best efforts, he died by the end of that day. The next day, we brought our second little piggy back to the store, where we were told we couldn’t have a refund because it had been more than two weeks. I told the manager that we’d already been back twice, and that I was rather appalled to see their slogan that “Pets are family.” I told him, “I’d hate to be a member of your family that couldn’t breathe!” He gave me a full refund. After this second debacle, we went back to the vet, who, we had learned, also ran a piggy shelter on the side. We adopted two piggies—Velma and Scooby—and after several more adoptions, eventually wound up with seven! Unfortunately, six of the seven have since passed away, and with our move to a new home, the last one now lives with my mother-in-law and her other piggies. Maybe some day we’ll have some more…. We do miss them. :-) ETA: We received word that yesterday, 24 June 2008, the seventh of our adopted piggies passed away. I guess with his last buddy/nemesis gone, it was his time.

We have 4, Bubbles, Snuggles, Snicker & Yeti. Our house has become "Pig Land" and they fill our home with whistles when we come home. Bubbles is going to be in the pet section of our local paper (Houston Chronicle) on 2/19/09 because he is so darn cute.

Not now but as a kid I had two, Peter and Pepe. Therefore I thought it only right that my daughter experience them too, so we had two more, Angel and Zena. Unfortunately we no longer have them. They lived their first year in a hutch in my daughters bedroom, then the next 5 years outside until Angel died. Zena then came bsck indoors fulltime until we lost her late last year with mammarian tumour - apparently common in "guppies" my affectionate term for them lol. Angel and Zena were black and tan so their alternate nickname was "the rotties" as in rottweillers ..

Ive had seven piggies in the past. I had two when i was 6, a little black one called blacky and a white, chestnut and black called bubbles. I lost interest and they went to live on a farm, they both had baby piggies :) but that was 11 years ago so i expect they've passed away now. Im 17 now and i bought two more piggies about 6 months ago. a white and blond one called Maggie and a brown, dark brown, light brown, white and maybe a bit of black one called Poppy. They are lovley! I then rescued another two, one the same colour as Poppy, but with more white called Pip and a white and chestnut one called Fergie. I also rescued a male called Shermon, but he had longer hair and i was allergic to him :-( but he was so friendly, he had to go back to the shelter sadly. I was going to attatch a photo, but i dont have any pictures on my laptop - i thought i did though :-(
