Pot has bad effects on the human brain. It is a powerful drug called THC which is an hallucinogen. It should be legalized for medicinal purposes because it is a drug that is useful. To legalize it for recreational use would be questionable. I would have to say YES though, but certain jobs should be allowed to screen you and fire you if you use it. I do not want airplane pilots and policeman smoking weed. As a former city bus operator again I would not want fellow bus drivers or any professional operator of heavy equipment smoking pot.

Yes I believe it should be legal for medical reasons, otherwise I am torn on the answer,on one hand I dont think people should goto jail for smoking pot,on the other hand I think a lot of people are too lazy as it is,pot only makes things worse.

I personally don't use it, but I think it should be legalized. Slap one of those good ole' hefty taxes on it, and our national deficit will start to disappear. :)

Not that I think cannibis -- or any substance whatsoever -- should be banned, but it's worth considering the Gautama Buddha's views on intoxicants. Gautama never says "don't do this," he instead says, "if you do this, that will be the result." In the case of intoxicants he said that those who use them "dig up their own root, even in this world." When gardening, one uses a hoe to dig up and overturn the roots of weeds, exposing them to the sun while burying the leaves. This causes the roots to dry up in the sun, killing the plant. What Gautama was saying is that intoxicants -- whether alcohol, pot, or cocaine -- cause your usual defences against the world to be moved aside like a curtain to expose your sensitive inner self. And like the roots of the weed, your inner self becomes withered with repeated ditrect and unshielded exposure to the harshness of the world. This is not to say that intoxicants in and of themselves are dangerous. Indeed, intoxicants have been used for millenia by shaman for the explicit purpose of opening the inner self to the world -- but only after long and arduous training, and only with the self-discipline which comes from this training. To use intoxicants for entertainment is dangerous and ultimately self-destructive. Pot should not be illegal, but neither should it be used by any thinking person for the purpose of amusement.

I'm for it. Marijuana is good for many medical conditions. Numerous items can be made from hemp, but we can't have big farms of it because it's illegal. People arrested on pot charges take up space in our jails, and, yet, sex offenders get early parole. If it's legal, we can tax it. Government regulation can actually make it safer as people would be less likely to get pot laced with other drugs. Laws against it do not prevent people from doing it. It's no worse than alcohol. Some would argue that it's actually less harmful.

I'm for it. The money the gov't can make from it would help with the nations debt. Also, people are going to do it whether it's legal or not so why not make it easier on everyone involved?

I do not believe in victimless crimes. if you have no children you could be doing PCP in your own home for all I care... you step out into the public you better be out from under it's influence or you are going to jail. then again I say smoking in the presence of children should be child abuse

re-legalized. the war on drugs is a crock of shit. it is a war on personal freedom. cannabis has been legal for most of our existence. if it werent for the crazy racist nut job religious fanatics of the reefer madness era, it would still be legal. for those who oppose re-legalization of the herb please look up why it REALLY was made illegal and who did it. please dont be ignorant.

It should be as legal as alcohol.
