It won't be bad if this is her first time. My son was not a minor but stole a cd to impress some girl he'd just met. It was his first time in trouble and he got SIS bench probation with no fine, after returning the goods of course.

this happened to me when I was a kid. they didnt exactly "press charges" and it was Macy's they sent me a letter demanding $250 or court proceedings - so pay the $250 and dont do it again - they will bring you to court next time.

Thanks for the answer. My mom has already got and went to see the, hmm...Whatever they're called. Basically my sister got a slap on the wrist, so to speak - she had to write an essay on why shoplifting was wrong. As long as she doesn't do anything again for 6 months or so nothing else will happen. She has since broken up with that boyfriend (yay!) and she was never known to do stuff like that before.

Probably some sort of citation. The state where you live may have laws that allow civil penalties for parent's of minors that commit misdemeanors.

Possibly a large fine and maybe a small jail sentence. Every court is diffrent.

Your sister will probably be summoned into Juvenile Court along with your mother . IF this is her first time, and she is not a problem at school or home ; she will likely get probation and maybe a small fine. She will be ordered to stay out of Wal Mart.

Maybe death if she pisses of the judge!
