  • I do this all the time. First you need some sort of recording software on your computer, one that can capture analog recordings. There is probably some freeware out there that can do this just fine. You also will need to check your tapedeck and see if it has RCA outs, you know the little red and white plugs. If it does good, if it doesnt, you will need to borrow or buy one that does. From here you have two choices, A) run it through a mixer and monitor the levels before connecting the mixer to the computer or B) find an RCA converter that will connect one end to your tapedeck and the other to the capture device or input on your computer. From here the steps varry by the program you use on your computer. I personaly use step A but I already own a mixboard and do a lot of my own recordings. If you do not have experience in this area, I recommend step B.
