Why do so many people believe that using scare tactics is going to help prevent people from having sex, doing drugs, drinking alcohol, and so on? Scare tactics don't help at all and they're the wrong approach anyway. What are your thoughts on this?

With so many outside influences and pressures.... there's really nothing that can stop it.... Scare tactics such as videos and trips to the morgue and stuff, are the only hope we have, because at least it's us, warning them, and them having that chance to say no, based on what they've seen....

I say people should stop with the scare tactics and actually teach teens about this stuff.

Parents and schools are spending to much time on that, we need to sit our kids down at the right age and explain to them right and wrong, wrong from right. They need to know the consequences for there actions without scaring the shit out of them. If they choose to break they law let the law fall down on them, dont bail them out. just leave them there to sit so they can realize that you were not kidding when you told them what would happen. drugs and drinking are the two i think commonly skipped over where as sex is focased on alot, make sure our kids know that it is not ok to send naked pics over the phone and internet and or to engage in casual sex but let them know the things they need to do to protect themselves as well.
