It opens the door for the possibility of life on more planets. Actually, that possibility is open, so I don't think so. That's interesting though because I never really thought about it. Then again, new types of bacteria or viruses could lead to problems or solutions on Earth. Although if we want that, we can go look in the Earth's back yard (the rain forests).

How about ... it will mean there is life on Mars! That's pretty significant on it's own isn't it? And if life can develop on two planets, then it can on three, or four, or billions.

It will be extremely significant! Some scientist/mathematician guy (forgot his name) has made an equation for the likelyhood of like on other planets. It comes out as either very likely or almost definatley not. If life was found on another planet then the chances of there being more life is increased to almost 100%.

Absolutely! That means that Mars has once been like Earth, which proves all the theories that scientists have been trying to prove.
