What is the name of a the common house spider that is so small it is almost invisible? You can see their webs, though! They look like a micro version of a daddy long legs.

    Hi! We call it the "Cellar Spider" here in PA. It is also known as the granddaddy long-legs spider, daddy long-legs spider, daddy long-legger, vibrating spider & house spider in other parts of the country.
    It's scientific name is "Pholcidae".
    Confusion often arises because the name "daddy longlegs" is also applied to two distantly related arthropod groups: the harvestmen (which are arachnids but not spiders), and crane flies (which are insects).
    They rapidly vibrate in their web when disturbed. There is a myth that they are poisonous, but this has been proven to be wrong. They rarely bite & the bite is completely harmless.
