  • As far as I remember (and use) you omit the last comma because you are using 'and' to join the sentence together (I am sure there is a technical term for it but I can never remember).
  • It's a disputed point but the majority prefer to omit.
  • I was reading a big article on this very subject, about a month ago. When I went to school, you didn't use a comma followed by the word "and". The article said that both are grammatically correct and and using it after is gaining in popularity.
  • I wouldn't after an "and. The other things are listed whilst the "and" is used in place of a comma.
  • That comma is what grammarians call the "Oxford" or "serial" comma. There is no consensus among writers or editors on the use of serial commas but I think the majority omit them.
