Would you stop dating someone because they did something you didn't like, for example smoking?

I would not even accept date number one from a smoker. If I was already dating someone, and found out something I didn't like, such as they hate pets, yes, I would stop.

Yep. I wouldn't even go as far as exchanging numbers if they were a smoker. I'm incredibly sensitive to it, and it gives me really bad headaches!

I think it would depend on the thing, and how committed I was against it. Using the smoking example, I was a long-time smoker; my husband never smoked and hated it. He didn't like my smoking, but he tolerated it when we were dating because he liked me and wanted to see me. Knowing how he felt I did what I could do minimize the effect of the things I knew he hated about it (where I could, you can't literally continue smoking and be 'healthy'). If you accept something about them in the beginning of the relationship, it isn't entirely fair to change the rules and say something is unacceptable after you've already started dating them. I think if I hated some behaviour I would speak with person, and make a decision about continuing the relationship based on their level of willingness to see my side or make changes.

I don't date smokers, my bf knew that when he asked me out, actually he quit because he knew that I didn't. If he started up again; I would give him a chance to quit, if he didn't then it would be the end of that. There are some things I will stand, and others I don't, there aren't many I don't. Smoking, hard drugs and making fun of people's weights are the things I would dump a guy over.

My boyfriend knows I don't like guys that smoke. He used to when he was in highschool but he stopped. If he were to pick it up now, I would definitely leave him even though I am MADLY in love with him. That's just how much I despise it.

It depends on what they smoke.. cigerettes i can live with. it wouldnt be something that i would advise them to do and i would try to convince them to stop for the sake of there life but i would date them
