Yes and no; Atheists don't believe in any "religious" God. But they could believe for instance that "love" or "nature" is God.
-
I think that the definition of a theist is a person who believes in God or A god...therefore an atheist should not by definition believe in any theism ( or not believe in any theist.
-
Correctamundo! Although I personally have a soft spot for Thor, Anubis, and the Flying Spaghetti Monster
-
I would have thought so.

In one sense you could say that all of us are "99% Atheist" since I'm pretty sure no one believes in all gods, like Thor, Quetzalcoatl, The Flying Spaghetti Monster, etc. True atheists simply don't discriminate and add the currently popular ones too for a clean sweep. So yes - we don't believe an any of 'em.
-
the definition of atheist is one who doesn't believe in god. it doesn't matter what religion the god comes from.
-
Right, more or less. Atheist don't acknowledge the existence of any god(s) or deities.
-
You are correct. Atheists do not believe in any god, goddess, or other form of deity.
-
Partially correct. A person who does not believe in a God, or deity, is called an atheist. The word means literally "a" (not) "theist" (god believer) However, there is also no such thing as "atheists" as an organized group, and "they" don't have any given beliefs.
-
Yes. Feel smart now?
-
You're right. The word atheism is from the Greek: "theos" means god -- not the Christian God, but any god -- "a" is a negative prefix and "ism" is a suffix which suggests a system of belief or something like that. So, "atheism" is non-god-believer, basically.

Only thing an athiest would have to answer is what is the definition of 'God' according to them. Then you can estimate whetehr this person is an athiest or not.
