Of course it's not too late for it! :-) Whether if it's high maintenance or not, it sounds as if you are really wanting one and regardless... I think you'll do well with it and it's something that will be good for you.

No, its never too late to have your new pet bird unless you really have the time for its well being and maintenance.

It really depends on what kind of parrot you are looking at getting. You should fully research the actual breed you are interested in, they are all different. I've always wanted an African Grey or Cockatoo but I haven't had room in my life for one yet. And no, it is certainly not to late. Good Luck :)

it really is not late for it and for most birds you just have to get a little routine going and always have it's food on supply because sometimes it may be hard to find food for but otherwise it really is not too hard

It's not too late. Parrots can make a fine pet for adults, usually the larger parrots are better with adults as many don't like children that much. They often bond to one special person and they usually demand a lot of attention, more than a child can usually do. I'd say that most parrots are like 2-4 year old kids that never grow up LOL! They do need companionship, even if it's a human. They need toys and playtime, something to do besides sitting in a cage. We've had some that loved to stay with us through the whole day, and with a wing clipped, we could take them all over town. Or make a big play yard for them and they are so funny to watch. I love the Amazon parrots, the green ones a lot. Some macaws are good pets, but some aren't too bright. BLue and gold macaws and military macaws are super smart. Scarlets aren't, in general. Cockatoos are like spoiled little 2 year olds. LOL!!! But they are so funny and always make me laugh. Our favorite bird of all time was a Greater Sulfur crested cockatoo who could get the whole room laughing with his antics! African grays are temperamental, but great talkers. They have a personality of their own. Then there are smaller parrots like dwarf macaws, and parrotlets and lories. Nothing is more beautiful than some of the lories. I recommend parrots as pets highly for anyone that has the time and wants a pet that will definitely want and need interaction with. And in just about every case, a hand raised one will be your best pet, not a wild caught one.

they need ALOT of attention ! Thye are like babies . My rosie is about 10 years old . red lored amazon . they dont talk as much as other breeds

I think the most important thing for your bird is that it regularly interacts with other humans and that you have someone who would be willing to take care of it in the event you no longer can.

You're a sensible and reflective kind of person. Don't choose a parrot unless you have a person young enough living with you and able to educate it in concert whith you.
