Amongst a slew of other probable reasons, because they're certain that they're right; so, there's no doubt in their minds that by "converting" you they're actually doing you a favor.

It's more or less of wanting to be heard. It can be quite annoying to hear one after so long, however, it's nice to hear different of opinions because we may actually learn something...whether we believe the other's idea or not.

Some have the misconception that what works for them will work for everyone.

Everybody is entitled to having and sharing their own opinions... they are not entitled to force people to agree or believe the same though.
