Because there is no logical reason to explain this.

The Bible says do not pray to false gods nor to the images of them. Catholics do not pray to non-biblical dieties, nor to images of them.
-
No we do not we pray to mother Mary and we pray to God and his son
-
The images aren`t false, they are very real.

Do you have pictures of your loved ones? Have you ever looked at the picture of someone while talking on the phone to them? Statues and pictures of people we love are not idols. Statues and paintings of Jesus and the saints are just like pictures of the people we love and respect. The King James Version of the Bible states in Exodus 20:4: "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth" Why were the Jews commanded not to make graven images? Graven images were the standard method of pagan worship. They were representations of false gods. This is a very clear command. However God commanded the Jews in Exodus 25:18 and 1 Chronicles 28:18–19, "And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them" And in 1 Kings chapter 7 Solomon made bulls and other images out of precious metals. It seems obvious that the Jews did not worship the cherubims and Solomon did not worship the bulls he had made. These images did not violate the command of God. Therefore, an image not made for worship is acceptable. In Numbers 21:8-9, "And the LORD said to Moses, "Make a saraph and mount it on a pole, and if anyone who has been bitten looks at it, he will recover." Moses accordingly made a bronze serpent and mounted it on a pole, and whenever anyone who had been bitten by a serpent looked at the bronze serpent, he recovered." And in John 3:14-15, Jesus says in correlation, "And just as Moses lifted up the [image of a] serpent in the desert, so must the Son of Man be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life." How can a statue of our Lord Jesus Christ dead on the cross be considered an idol to a false god? A crucifix is the message of the Gospel without words held up for all to see, a visual reminder of the sacrifice of Jesus, no different from a painting, a play, or a movie. How can a nativity set set up in your house to constantly remind you and teach your children of God's love for use be idolotry? Catholics do not worship statues but the almighty God, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. With love in Christ.

That is a very valid point, however it lacks some truth.. The problem with catholics and the images is that they light up candles to them they asked them to pray for them when the bible never said to do that. example "mary mother of Jesus pray for us." that is a problem Jesus clearly thought us how to pray he said 9"This, then, is how you should pray: Matthew 6: 9-15 " 'Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. 11Give us today our daily bread. 12Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.[a]' 14For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. Not the virgin Marry or any other dead saint from the bible.

Because they are blind followers of a tradition they know nothing about? Remind me, when was Catholicism founded again? By whom? And Matthew 6: 1 "Be careful not to do your `acts of righteousness' before men, to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. 2 "So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4 so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 5 "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. 6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him. 9 "This, then, is how you should pray: "`Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10 your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us today our daily bread.... Last time I went to church I was all dressed up, we sang all kinds of hymns, a collection bowl was publicly passed around and the Lord's Prayer was not (as I recall) recited. I guess the modern catholic church disregards the words of the saints....?

I see you clearly misunderstood me dear if you read my comment again you will notice I quoted the Bible. I did not use my opinion, the virgin Marry clearly played an important role in the Bible I would be foolish to deny that. However, her role was simply that; just like all of us have a role that God has given us. However, God said we should only pray to him. And you probably already know that the Father, Son, Holy Spirit is one, so you know that Jesus is God and the son of God. Now I am not attacking anyone I am just stating copied and paste fact from the very Bible you read. Catholics use the virgin marry as a mediator between them and God all I am saying is or should I say all the bible is saying is (1Timothy 2:5-6): “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.” Sorry if you thought I was trying to use arrogance this is from the Bible not from me God bless.

Obviously, Catholics have a different idea of what constitutes a "false image" from yours. Who is to say which is right, especially after the Bibles used now as the result of who knows how many translations over the years, by persons whose scholastic credentials are lost to history?
-
The idea of 'no image' is itself an image.
