Yes mate. The kid get leave to remain by parenthood. SA citizen gets British citizenship by marriage. I am assuming one parent is British by birth though. Otherwise it is a grey arear. I would consult UK immigration - they will give an honest answer and plenty of useful advise (I would hope). My friend is from SA but married to a British citizen with a kid born in SA. Because his wife was born outside the UK (colonial type), she only get citizenship through parenthood. Whilst my friend can get British citizenship through marriage, his kid can't. That is due to the rule that citizenship through parenthood cannot be passed down two generations. Hopefully I am too late and the original poster has sorted out whatever issue raised this question, but I would recommend anyone with an interest in moving to the UK consulted UK immigration either by phone, through embassies, or even visited their website. I for one welcome anyone who has something to offer our country.
