Depends on where you are, but you should dress nicely, especially if it's in NY. In NY, expect to wear black or white. Don't wear flashy colors. Men should wear dress slacks and a nice sweater or shirt and tie. A suit would be nice. Women should wear a dress or a very nice pantsuit with a dressy blouse. Women should always carry some sort of wrap, even in the summer. The theatres always seem to overdo the air conditioning and we freeze in our little black dress all throughout the play. Tickets can run well over $100. For example, Lion King tickets in New York right now are anywhere from $108 - $150 or there abouts. Hairspray will run you about $130, but you can get in to see Rent for only $55 if you sit in the Mezzanine.
