  • The garden of eden is part of the Biblical creation myth. It's all made up, however, being old testament, it was made up somewhere at least 3000 years before the Church showed up on the scene - and probably before that.
  • Actually, if we follow the myth, Adam and Eve were there from the moment of their creation. So they could theoretically have memorized that part. And they lived long enough to tell it to their descendency. Some prophet could have had a vision about the rest of the story. Such a myth was not better and not worse than any other of thousands of myths about the creation of the world. At least for the people of that time. In the meantime, we have become from science a lot of proofs why this never could have happened that way. Because the world, life and humanity are much older than that. And animals, human included, were not created, but evolved from more simple life forms.
  • The garden of edan is fictional just like every other story in the bible it's stil a good story though.
  • The Garden of Eden, the story of creation in the book of Genisis, the first book of the Torah is a Hebrew story, the church comes about two thousand years later. (Think about it, if all this comes from Jews, and these are the pillars of Christianity, then Christianity must be Jewish.) It is believed that prior to Moses meeting with God on Mt Saini (when Moses goes up on the mountian and comes down with the ten commandments) story was passed down orally. Oral tradition has been found to be very accurate as evidenced by Alex Haleys research for the book "Roots". It was Moses that wrote or caused to have everything written down. Everything means the Torah which is composed of the first five books of the old testament, Genesis, Exodus, Liviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy. If one is to believe in the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob the knowlege of that God is available from only one source, the Bible. Through the unfortunate accident of language what we read in english language bibles may not be a really accurate translation. Suggestion: Find a Torah, Talmud (commentary on the Torah written by Rabbis over the last four thousand years) and a commentary on the Talmud. You'll probobly be able to find them in the Public Library. There isn't a lot of difference in the translation from Hebrew to English but there is a wealth of information that is lost in that translation,i.e., Cain kills Able, remember that? God tells Cain "Your brothers blood cries out to me from the ground" - - The Hebrew word here for blood is plural, Your brothers "BLOODS". Meaning, according to Talmud, Cain has not only killed Able, but "ALL" of Ables unborn decendants To me the concept is overwhelming. - Don't give up on the creation story yet. Prepair will be overwhelmed if you go to the library.
  • I'm not of any religion but I disagree with the comment "The Garden of Eden was made up". It is important to remember that 70% of the things in the bible are metaphorical. The Garden of Eden is not some magical greenhouse with apples and unicorns everywhere. But it states that it is the birth place of man. If we apply accepted science we can see that there is a place on earth that fits the bill. Mesopotamia or sometimes known as "The Cradle of Civilization". This is were man first developed writing and language. Over time the story got infused with religion. But at it's core Mesopotamia is the Garden of Eden. So It makes you think, what else is Real? All I'm saying is never dismiss something because it seems false.
  • The garden of Eden refers to the Holy perfect creation or earth (without sin). Once sin had entered it. Humans were no longer able to enter back into a perfect world without sin. Sin had taken root. The sin could even be the flaming sword keeping us all from ever entering the garden. We are born into sin from the start, from the time our mother concieves us. The angel could even possibly be satan.
