  • I answered your other question as well. Do not become discouraged. It is a human reflex that takes place mostly involuntarily within the human body. Just as a boxer must train not to flinch when his opponent twitches a little, your body will eventually learn and become used to these situations. Just as if you were to shed a tear or two at your first few funerals, it is part of you being human. Don't think that only the most callous, heartless individuals can be morticians.
  • Watching a autopsy being performed can be quite shocking. Keep in mind that autopsy work is something a pathologist will stick to. Morticians have nothing to do with opening up the chest cavity and routing around in there. :) Mortuary work is not for everyone (obviously) and having a strong stomach is definitely a must! Speaking with a Funeral Director and a Embalmer would certainly help you make the decision if this particular career move is right for you. Just call a funeral home around your area and mention how you're interested but would like to sit down and talk to someone who knows the ins and outs! Poke your nose in... who knows what you'll learn!
