Why does Jack the Ripper get so much press, he wasn't the first or even the worst serial killer?

They never got him - he's still out there, somewhere.

There`s a lot of myths as to who he was. Some say he was a prominent doctor, others say he was a member of the royal family. From the evidence he had some sort of medical training and knew what he was doing, which makes it all the more spookier. Makes for a good horror type legend.

granted he wasnt the first or the "worst" but he took his victims to a dark area and he removed their insides with such surgical accuracy that the victims suffered emence pain and died of shock

because it is "officially" unsolved and there are reasonable suspicions of royal involvement and a scandalous cover up. What could draw more press than that?
