Yonkers woman, 39, reports being raped May 3, 2008 YONKERS - A 39-year-old city woman told police that she was raped by two men after a night of drinking and using drugs, authorities said yesterday. The woman told police that, as she was being allowed to leave the Nodine Hill apartment where one of them lives, she used a razor to slash one of them. After that, she walked to St. Joseph's Medical Center, where she was treated in the emergency room. At the hospital, she told police she was hanging out with a girlfriend about 9 p.m. Thursday around Elm and Oak streets. Her friend introduced her to two men she knew only as "Ray" and "Miguel." She said she used drugs and alcohol with them. Yesterday morning, she told police, she went to Ray's apartment, where there was a third, unidentified, man. That man kept the door closed while the two others undressed her and took turns holding her down on the floor and raping her, she said. After the attack, she was given her clothing and allowed to leave, she said.

I am not in anyway saying they would be right in doing it...but you should know better than to put yourself in a situation like that. Just my opinion there.
-
ok she wasn't sensibile bt it doesn't justify their behaviour either
-
well rape is not on at all in any situation!... whether the person is druck, high or just bloody stupid
-
Just because she goes back to there place and does drugs and drink does not mean she was thinking they were going to just have there way with her i think it's wrong and hopefully she will use better judgement in the future
-
appaled? yes press charges? yes surprised? no : why do people think that just because the attacker is completely in the wrong that they hold no responsibility for the stupid choices which enabled the incident to occur.
-
I think no matter what the situation, I would be surprised to be raped!! Just because she went back to their apartment to have a good time doens't mean she was asking to be raped!!!! This question actually enrages me. If this is a real situation you are being pretty nonchalant about it!

I wouldnt be surprised no. But I would also have the common sense not to put myself in that situation. Yes I've been raped but I did not walk into a home with people I did not know. I wouldnt consider her as much a victim as most people would, no she didnt ask for it. But yes she probably could have forseen it. Just like if I pointed a gun at Sheriff and he shot me first. Different senario same principle. There was a thing where I live in which a 12 yr old girl was murdered. She disobeyed her parents, ran off to a party, and after the bad judgement she had already displayed she went alone to a secluded golfcourse with several older men. She didnt deserve it, but she did walk right into her rape/death. Sad but true, and now I'm ready for the downrates. :)

No, only because you put yourself in a high-risk situation. Both guys should still be prosecuted to the full extent of the law for rape. Rape is never OK, even if you walk down the street stark naked. Rape is a crime of violence NOT A SEX ACT.

no

Not as surprised as I was finding myself in some guy's trailer at a construction site after just shooting pool at the corner bar, and finding him giving me a backrub and trying to advance on me as I was blurry in some delerium. I don't remember at all how I got there and having done my share of drinking and drugs I think he might have slipped me a ketamine And I'm a guy btw - and the other guy was not at all what I would assume would be a gay guy- seemed more like a bruce springstein fan type (no offense Bruce) roughneck sort I went out just to have a beer and chill- next thing I knew I'm delerious trying to drive back home nauseous and trancelike

Rape is never right. The fact that a woman gets high with two guys at their place does put her in a very bad position of being taken advantage of. Just being alone with two guys you may not fully trust is bad enough but getting high with them adds to the risks. Putting ones self into this type of situation will lead to unwanted results.
-
Putting yourself in a situation like that is always a bad idea, but no matter what you do, there is never an excuse for someone to rape someone. No matter how poor of judgement you may have had, does not give someone the okay to rape you
-
This is so sad. But I can't think of a better set-up for rapists to take advantage. I had one guy on our one and only date tell me that when I said no, I was really saying yes and he believed it. I finally had to get a big male friend to confront him. There are some guys who feel they have the right to do whatever to women, using the drink and drugs as one more excuse.

Fact from fiction, truth from diction. No supprise, three of the key elements of a rape were present, she was clueless or too drunk to have a clue. 3 rape elements were there: surprise, control, seclusion. I am sure she would not have gone back there if she had overheard them planning to rape her. Because od the drugs and the booze she made the surprise amd control element that much easier. Omce they had her secluded, she was toast. People do not tend to like being watch when they are raping someone unless the crowd is into it and cheering them on. But if you are crazy enough to seclude yourself in a private place with any person you do not know well you should at least be sober, so if anything happens you can try to figure a way of escape or plan of attack. Find ways to get excited with a sober mind it is harder for anyone to play you.

I wouldn't say that you should be surprised if that were to happen. However, rape is not the result of drugs and alcohol, but the result of a very evil mind. The drugs and alcohol only lower inhibitions.
