  • I read an article on this last week. What a great concept! I would like to see a group of people claim a name and then ban it's use. It'll be great theater.
  • I think the question is, how would they enforce it if the Courts ruled in their favor?
  • No chance. It is one thing to control an item of commerce, another to control a word in use throughout the world. The Hormel company got upset at the use of their trademark Spam for junk email, but decided that there was noting they could do about it. Besides, it is understood that some names go into common uses and cannot be re-privatised. Cheddar tried to regain control of its cheese, and the authorities said it could not do so - the usage was too widespread. I think Lesbos would fall foul of this one. Of course, if they succeeded, we could no longer refer to Spartan accommodation, eat Hamburgers, French Fries or Sandwiches.
  • The ramifications would be that gay groups in Greece could no longer use the term lesbians.
  • It is spelt "L-e-s-b-o-s."
  • they would all become greek citizens
  • hehe emmm you can't really tell to million of people to stop using a word. The word in greek for lesbians is lesvies so it is just te root of the word. It is nice that there is a history behind the word. I really want to do that 'real lesbian' test. I guess if we failed we are not going to be able to date girls?? hahah
  • I guess I'd have to grow out my hair, shave my legs and start withholding sex from men. Wait a minute, I already do that...
