Go to court and explain it to the judge. That is all you can really do.

What does having Texas plates have to do with your violation? You are to have your vehicle under control at all times. its the law in all the states, including Texas and Kentucky. Do the four hour defensive driving course.

Having Texas plates means that I live in Texas and cannot return to appeal the ticket. I assure you that my vehicle was under control and I would not have been following too closely if the vehicle to my right had not pulled in front of me mere seconds before seeing the radar unit. The officer could not know this and so wrote me the ticket. However, if I could have "my day in court" explaining my situation to a judge...this might be an extenuating circumstance. It might not. I will never know because I cannot return to Kentucky on a very specific day to find out because I live over 1000 miles away in the state of Texas. It is much less expensive to just pay the $149 and as you say "do the 4 hours" but I would prefer to be able to explain it to a judge. My frustration in this regard is why I posted in the first place.
