Why did the nightly news on all the networks (including cable news stations) stopped displaying the US death tolls of soldiers killed in action?

Typically in wartime, the aggressor country uses propaganda to maintain their support of the war back home. Too much 'reality' leads to protest, draft resistors and other activism which undermines the government and the corporations who profit from the war. You will have to search online to get the answers. Last I heard it was just under 3000. But even this may not be accurate. Typically, the actual number of dead is kept secret, again, to discourage anti-war activity. While the TV we get in our living rooms, is not recognized as being propaganda, over the past several years, corporations have had more and more control and ownership in the media networks. So you can bet that what we see on the news is favorable to the corporate profit stream and not necessarily the viewers.
