  • States have different ages for child emancipation laws. Do a Google search for your state. At 17, my guess would be that you could choose which parent you want to live with.
  • Im pretty sure she does. she can choose who she wants to live with at the age of 16
  • At 17, you are still considered a minor and must follow whatever custody agreement was reached in the courts. You or a sponsor can petition the court to address the custody issue and you can present your case for living with the other parent. Emancipation serious and difficult to achieve, so I'd stick with the court order for now. You have less than a year before you can decide who to live with.
  • You have the right to bring her back, but you will have to go to court to enforce it, by the time that happens, she will be 18, and you will have, severed your relationship with your daughter, wasted your money and time. Do you want to be right or happy? I mean, we are talking months here.
