  • Only animal food products contain cholesterol. You can lower your cholesterol, just by lowering the amount of food you eat that contains animal parts. There are two kinds of cholesterol, HDL, and LDL. LDL is the kind that can be harmful to your health. Your own liver will produce more LDL cholesterol if you eat food containing animal fat (so called "saturated" fats). Adding avocado's to your diet is a good thing. Of all vegetables, it has the highest proportion of properties that help your body break down cholesterol. Substituting olive oil for butter when you can, and reducing the quantity of high fat animal products you eat, such as cheese and certain cuts of meat will also help. Fat is needed by your brain and nervous system; you have to have it in your diet. Turning the volume down is good, but trying to eliminate it from your diet is not.
