Dont try to cheer her up. Try to help her find another outlet for her sadness. Nothing bothers me more than me having a hard day and someone acting weird to try to get me happy. Because then I feel like a jerk for not being happy. So then Im sad, irritated, AND guilty. lol But yeah. Help her find something else to do for her pain...

Well, this is very serious. She could actually die (liver failure). If she does not follow with a therapist, she should. If she does, help her call this person instead of taking the pills. If she has already taken the pills, take her to the ER each and every time she does. She definitely needs to get the message that this is completely serious business, and there are people who can help her learn to manage her sadness in more effective, constructive, and not harmful ways. Good luck. I am glad she has a friend in you.

The very best thing you can do for your friend is to get her some help ... NOW! Talk to a guidance counselor at school, a knowlegable pastor at a church, any responsible adult. This may seem like "ratting" on your friend, but you may just be saving her life!

i'm sorry - but most people like this are attention seekers. don't get me wrong, some are genuinely upset and unhappy - but others do it for the attention they get from doing this. The best solution? take all the tablets away from her. I think she is only after attention since she has done it several times at the slightest drop of a hat. STOP giving her attention when she does this. stop trying to cheer her up - only she can do that, i know this may seem a little harsh but in the end only she can decide what she want's to do. don't get me wrong be there for her.. but just be careful not to reinforce.
