  • In theory you could. I went to the butterfly house at Niagara once and there were loads of signs saying not to touch the butterflies and to watch where you were walking. When we got in there, there was a whole group of school kids picking up butterflies, trying to catch them, running round not looking where they were going so treading on them, etc etc. Needless to say, there were dead butterflies everywhere and my husband and I were less than impressed. The keepers didn't seem too fussed about the whole thing though, so I guess you could say that (at that particular place anyway), no you would not get in trouble for accidentally killing an insect. As long as you took due care and followed the rules (or not!). I suppose that the zoo/animal park would not let you come into direct contact with rare insects as the risk would be too great.
  • Endangered species are never displayed openly to the public for obvious reasons. That being said, no.....open house/air exibits know that there is a price to be paid for allowing animals and humans to interact. There are numerous zoological open displays throughout the US, and one in Georgia. However, the one in Georgia insists that you remain INSIDE your car at all times. They have large predatory animals on display. +5
