  • I've never doubted Mohammad's words. There are some things in the Quran that had to have come from God. Things that no-one knew 1200 years ago. For instance. the development of the foetus, ocean currents, how deep the oceans are, etc.....
  • In their defense, most "did not" believe him when he spoke just as most did not believe Christ.. so day and age is perhaps irrelevant.
  • In this day or any age ... need to back up with evidence ... miracles
  • The same thing goes for Christians, why couldn't the claims that Jesus was the Son of God be a lie, and for Judaism (and Christianity again), how do we know that Moses didn't just make up the Ten Commandments himself on top of the mountain?? DO you think that in this day and age we would believe any of these claims??
  • What Mohammad said can not be dillusional. His recitations came directly to him from Gabriel who was recited to by Allah. There are too many scientific facts in the Qu'ran that have only recently been discovered. If someone in this day and age made similar claims to Mohammad he would not be believed by Muslims as Mohammad was the last prophet.
  • Muslims don't wonder they can actually read about these allegations in the HQ itself, for example: HQ 21:5 "Nay," they say, "(these are) medleys of dream! - Nay, He forged it! - Nay, He is (but) a poet! Let him then bring us a Sign like the ones that were sent to (Prophets) of old!" HQ 16:103 We know indeed that they say, "It is a man that teaches him." The tongue of him they wickedly point to is notably foreign, while this is Arabic, pure and clear. HQ 23:70 Or do they say, "He is possessed"? Nay, he has brought them the Truth, but most of them hate the Truth.
  • I thought this was the case for years. I was raised Christian in the bible belt of the central mid-west. I was always told that Muslims were non-religious and backwards in thinking. It wasn't until I met the woman that has become my wife that I started to look into it. She is an Egyptian born in Saudi Arabia and she worked for me while she was finishing college. I liked to get close to all my employees so they would be able to open up and talk to me if something should happen at work. I was out at dinner with her one day and I offered her some lasagne from this great italian place and it had sausage in it. She told me she wasn't allowed to, nor did she want to eat pork. I asked why and she explained to me that she was Muslim and I began speaking with her about the beliefs of Islam from square one talking about the 5 pillars. After about 4 hours of discussion we made it a point to at least once per week go out to dinner and discuss this since I was so intrigued to speak to someone from that faith which until then was completely shrouded in mystery to me. After a few months and my own research "Islam for Dummies" and a few other great reads, I converted. During my research, I was consistantly skeptical. I thought that every thing in the Qur'an was blasphemous and that none of it was possible in any way. I assumed that Mohammed was possessed or on drugs/having a psychotic break. After months of research though, I realized that this could not be the case. and here's why: Consistancy There isn't a drug out there (trust me, I have done most of them and now work in a rehab center) That can give someone hallucinations (as would have to be the case for Mohammed to have 'seen an angel') That gives the same consistant hallucination EVERY TIME for 23 years. There is no form of psychotic break (my rehab center is attached to a psych hospital and I'm in school to be a therapist) That consistantly gives the same delusions. So if it couldn't be drugs or psychosis, the next option given is demonic posession. If Mohammed was possessed by a demon, and you believe this to be true, you are holding the truths about demons in that they can not live anywhere that the word of God is spoken. Of course, Muslims will say "The Qur'an is the word of God so Mohammed PBUH coudln't have been posessed", but that is using Islamic truth to support and protect Islamic truths. If you are skeptical of Islam, that logic doens't make sense. So I'll say it from the Christian perspective I was raised with. In the bible there are many stories of demonic posession. In all of these cases, the mere utterance of God made the demons flee from their host and enter swine that would drown themselves. If you are looking at it from a Christian standpoint supporting the bible, you MUST support that demons can't live in a space that is in true belief and constant utterance of the name of God. Allah is Arabic for God and thus, the utterance of Allah would evacuate a demonic presence. No one can argue that Mohammed was stating that he was carrying with him the word of Allah. If you are Christian, you then MUST believe that Mohammed could not have been posessed, nor could he have been on drugs, nor could he have been going through a psychotic episode. I have studied this througholy from both sides, I am a religious philosophies minor, raised Christian and converted to Islam. My aunt lives on a mission trip in the Dominican Republic and my Grandma works and lives at her church. I hope that you have read my wall of text and I hope you take into account my personal experience to the statements I gave and I hope this answers your questions. Oh, lol, okay, I just reread the question and to answer it, no I don't think that we would believe it today. No one believes in what happened 1500 years ago with Mohammed or 2000 years ago with Isa peace upon them both. If you are Christian, you would discredit the words of someone in todays age saying these things by saying "the bible said Jesus was the messiah, this guy is delusional" and if you were Muslim, you would say "Allah has said Mohammed was the final prophet" No one would give the person any credit right off the start.
  • If you actually read the Quran and understand it, then you would know that no man in the owrld could ever have written or made it up except Allah(God). We know that the prophet is real because they have is grave in Mecca.
  • My father believes God talks to GWB. So I'm thinking there are people who would believe it.
  • Nobody would believe such a person in this day and age
  • Fact is if you read the biography of muhammed you will find that he himself believed he was delusional.. It was his first wife who "convinced" him that he was a prophet of god and that he was not crazy..of corse this would of happened as she was a rich. well respected woman, and the thought of having a husband that was crazy would not be well received.. Kahdejia explained to muhammed that he was not crazy and that it was "actually" the angel gabriel he was seeing and hearing..Muhammed, because he was extensively traveled and well versed on the christian and jewish faith due to his travel and exposure, created a religion that was 90% christian, 10% corruption to suit his desire to conquer the world..he realized that jews and christians would do anything, even die for their god...so he created islam, knowing that the muslims also would be willing to die for their god..then he proceeded to lead them into battle, FOR GOD OFCORSE!!!!.He wast he ultimate general and his muslim army glady gave there lives in pursuit of religious supremacy.
  • A question to all Christians: ever wondered what if the claims made by Jesus or Moses that they could talk and hear god were lies or delusional (or in your case 'disillusional')? Do you think in this day and age if someone made such claims (like Pat Robertson, George Bush, et al.), we would believe them?
  • After living in a cave for a decade, any sane person would become disillusional, watch the movie: Cast Away
  • Why stop at mohammed, why not jesus and moses as well?
  • I dont believe anyone who says they talked to god, or people who speak in tongues, or make contact with ghosts, or see the future in dreams, this is all personal expiriance and cannot be measured or rated by outside calculation, thus can never be proved, so can never be true. I think its all been a coincidence, or and overstatement, or something they wzant to believe. I hold all of these at the same level, I will never underestimate the human brain for convincing people of patterns they see, we do this because of evolution, seeing patterns in events has hepled us understand our world in groundbreaking ways, but has also spewed nonsense such as religion... paranormal... magic... and things that are all easily explanable and totally human. We can't escape being ourselves, but we can look at things logically, and when everyone does they can see through the bull and finally try to fix the problems we've made.
  • Well so far all i've heard anyone say is that he was not lying because he couldn't have written it. Why not? Humans have proven again and again that they are more than capable authors. This is about all religion not just islam. People wandering off and coming back with visions! As for the poster who said he couldn't be lying because he had the same vision at the same time for 20 something years. Perhaps then we are giving him too much credit with seeing things, perhaps he was just lying! Enjoying the notority and fame the same as countless other cult leaders through the years. I would be the first to hold my hands up and say i was wrong if there were any proof whatsoever that wasn't just someones words. Unfortunately though there are no more religious profits or miricles in this modern day world where there are ways of recording them for future generations (or perhaps they are just all locked away in nuthouses). Seems the continuing religious enlightenment through man ended almost like a book? Funny that.
