Ensure the connection to the back of the computer to the monitor is secure. If the cord is removable, try another one. If it still doesn't work, and the computer makes the normal startup noises, then suspect the graphics card. Replace and test. Otherwise, you might have a bung mother board. That's totally annoying.

If the cables truly are fine then most likely your video adapter is toast.

So internet worked but not the computer right?!

Disconnect anything that would keep from booting. Like IDE and floppy cables. Remove any ISA cards, not needed to boot. Ram must be in to boot, reseat ram. Then try to boot.
