it's really up to them, however, personally i'm a traditional kinda gal....i wouldn't ever ask my s/o to marry me. i figure that if he wants to spend the rest of his life with me and believes i'm the "one" for him then he'll approach me......if not, i guess....no ring!!

If it feels comfortable within a certain relationship, then it's okay, some men might feel weird about it, but others wouldn't.
