  • I agree with the other answers: the clue to enjoying anything is to find relevance to you. WHen I was little, my mum used to bring out her suitcase of memories. She had travelled all over Europe as a young woman, and had souvenirs from the places she had visited. We learnt our European geography from asking her about places and looking at the maps she had. She had flags, postcards, all sorts of things. You have to find things for you. GCSE is British, isn't it? You are so close to Europe that travel there is probable even more than possible (as it is for us Aussies). Start planning your holiday. Start with short holidays - around the UK and IReland, then plan longer hols to Europe...then go really mad...Asia, Australia, the Pacific, The Americas. Visit travel sites and collect holiday brochures from travel agents. Drool over the pictures, and if somewhere takes your fancy, put it on your itinerary, making sure to research it thoroughly (location, population, ethnic mix, climate, topography). Before long you get hooked, as I did on mum's suitcase.
  • Learning the general history of the area and how the geography affected it. Or see how many countries you can memorize and how many capitals you can remember. Learn the song from Animaniacs.
