Not at all rational, unless He could back it up. I think healing the lame, the blind and the deaf, raising the dead, walking on water etc is pretty good back up.

Good question, but according to the bible Jesus doesn't think that he is God. Hence why he asks if the Father has forsaken him and prays to God asking his will to be done

It's not rational. It's supernatural. Way too complicated for mere mortals like us. Does that piss you off? That there might be some life form in this universe that might be greater than you? That even created you?

Jesus is the only one who could rationally make such a claim, because for him such a claim would in fact be correct.

the bible and jesus contradict themselves, in some places it says jesus is not god, in others it says he is. now, which is it? http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/interp/jesus_God.html http://www.skepticsannotatedbible.com/

It is entirely rational, backed up by prophesies made hundreds of years before He was born.
