After putting WMA files from my computer onto my MP3 player many songs are not as loud as the others, is there a reason for this and can I correct it? Thanks for any help!

I know for my mp3 player (i-pod) if I go to settings I can change the play back volume so it stays equal through the whole artist, but the reason why it gets the different volumes is because each cd any artist makes is recorded differently Thats why if you have an old cd from the 80s it tends to be quieter than those from the new millenium because the recording equipment has improved so much -
