No, just his own hatreds. Same as any other bigot.

Jerry Falwell is one sick puppy...I don't want to be going anywhere near any heaven he supposedly thinks he is going to....
-
People like him never have "evidence"....just their own hatred and belief in lies and stereotypes instead of reality. (had to come back and add a couple of pics I had in a file at home...)

Jerry Falwell's business is hatred and ignorance. Unfortunately a lot of people think this is Christian. Falwell and those of his ilk are to spirituality what Wal Mart is to ethical business. Not to mention the monumental stupidity of someone who claims that this condition is a punishment for homosexuals when most of the people worlwide who are living with it, and dying from it, are heterosexual. If he actually based his bigotry on even one salient point, he'd be more plausible saying it was a punishment for heterosexuals.

He thinks he has God on speed dial... Just Kidding. I'm conservative; people like Falwell don't speak for all conservatives. If your a Homo, then thats what you are. No point of God making a special disease for you. Is there a special I'm straight disease?

Isn't he dead now? Yes, just checked it, died 2007, so it is all past tense now. From a Christian point of view: Jerry, like many individuals, ought to have kept his opinions to himself. The spread of AIDS is a very sad thing, as it hits a lot of individuals who did not take part in the homosexual lifestyle, including children and women. It has struck heterosexuals, particularly in developing nations, as much as it has homosexuals. While I do not dismiss the fact that lifestyle choice (in Christian terms "immorality") have caused its horrific spread, I think Jerry should have been more compassionate towards the many who did not partake in these lifestyles but got it anyway, indeed to those who DID take part and got it. )(It is a horrible way to die for anyone) Still, I am Australian and know very little about Jerry Falwell. I do not know how strongly he pushed this line, and whether or not he balanced it with care for those who suffered with AIDS, both homo- and heterosexual.

Rev. Falwell believed in an angry God who wants to judge and punish people. What a dark, angry world Falwell lived in -- His only hope was to die and go to Heaven where presumably everyone agrees with Falwell. Falwell was a narrow-minded backward bigot who hated anyone who didn't embrace his narrow view of the world. Falwell's neurotic fear of others, his hatred of anyone different from him, and his fear of being judged 'inadequate' in any way by the angry God of Falwell's imagination drove him to persuade many people to join him on his crusade of hate -- not too different from the crusade of hate unleashed by Adolf Hitler. Thankfully, Falwell never gained the reins of power that would allow him to lock up and punish his religious enemies, and if he had, he would be remembered and cursed for worse crimes than even Hitler did, I'm afraid. This is no exaggeration -- the Christian Fundamentalists are just as dangerous as Islamic Fundamentalist -- they're all extremists who want to take mankind backwards into authoritarian dictator governments run by religious tyrants. Just ask the people of Iran how much they like living under a theocracy . . . it was just his religious belief, and by the constitution, he shall not force his religious nuttiness on me.

His proofs are in his own interpretation of the Bible. 1) "Families Falwell strongly advocated beliefs and practices he believed were taught by the Bible. He believed in the quintessential patriarchal family in which, ideally, the father is the primary bread-winner and the wife takes care of the home and raises the children until they’re old enough to leave the home. The entire family was expected to play an active role in their local church. Falwell's company "The Moral Majority" was founded on four basic tenets, 1) pro-family, 2) pro-life, 3) pro-defense and 4) pro-Israel.. The church, Falwell asserted, was the cornerstone of a successful family. Not only was it a place for spiritual learning and guidance, but also a gathering place for fellowship and socializing with like-minded individuals. The dialogs started one-on-one after service among parishioners would often build into more focused speeches or organized goals Falwell could then present to a larger audience via his various media outlets. - Civil rights During the appearance on MSNBC, Falwell said he was not troubled by reports that Supreme Court nominee John G. Roberts had done volunteer legal work for gay rights activists on the case of Romer v. Evans. Falwell told MSNBC's Tucker Carlson that if he were a lawyer, he too would argue for civil rights for gays. "I may not agree with the lifestyle, but that has nothing to do with the civil rights of that part of our constituency," Falwell said. When Carlson countered that conservatives "are always arguing against 'special rights' for gays," Falwell said that equal access to housing and employment are basic rights, not special rights. "Civil rights for all Americans, black, white, red, yellow, the rich, poor, young, old, gay, straight, et cetera, is not a liberal or conservative value. It's an American value that I would think that we pretty much all agree on." Falwell supported Anita Bryant's 1977 movement to overturn an ordinance in Dade County, Florida that prohibited discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and a similar movement in California." 2) Proofs that Tinky Winky, a Teletubby, was intended as a gay role model: "In February 1999 an unattributed National Liberty Journal article claimed that Tinky Winky, a Teletubby, was intended as a gay role model. (NLJ was not the first source to make this association; a 1998 Salon.com article had previously noted Tinky Winky's status as a gay icon.) In response, Steve Rice, spokesperson for Itsy Bitsy Entertainment, which licenses the Teletubbies in the US, said, "I really find it absurd and kind of offensive." The immensely popular UK show was aimed at pre-school children, but the article stated "he is purple - the gay pride color; and his antenna is shaped like a triangle - the gay-pride symbol." Apart from those characteristics Tinky Winky also carries a magic bag which the NLJ article said was a purse. Falwell added "role modelling the gay lifestyle is damaging to the moral lives of children."" He died and is in his own private hell. Who cares? We have the living asswipe Phelps to contend with today.
-
No, he's just a dick, and it is a well known fact that dicks do not have brains.
-
like any extremist, be it Bin Laaden or Falwell they point to a corruption or misinterpritation of their religious doctrine to push their biggoted and often nonesensical points of view. Jesus and Mohamed both preached tolerance and love, doesn't really square with Falwell's venomous diatibes does it.rank hypocrisy more apt I think.

With statements like that is it any wonder the churchs are half empty ?
-
I doubt it. You say he is Christian. Well, does he have any Biblical back up to support that? I don't seem to remember anywhere in the Bible that says "If you are homosexual, you are going to get AIDS. If you support homosexuality, you will get punished with AIDS as well." There are homosexual people who don't have AIDS, so I think that discredits his argument.

Jerry Falwell is an jackass who will burn in hell. God created gay people but yet he's punishing them for being created according to Jerry Falwell? I hate that guy
-
Falwell is dead, who cares what he said. On another note, I'm holding a death day party to celebrate the day that scum left this world, who wants to come?
-
he was a bigot and all ways will be a bigot... even in death you can not escape being a bigot ...because once a bigot ...always a bigot and for him to have said this justs proves it beyond a doubt
-
Why, why WHY would you ever EVER consider a man like J Falwell as a source for anything??! Talk about close-minded, ignorant, hateful! This "theology" of knowing what God has in mind is the very thing truly spiritual people have preached against for ages. Do not listen to people like Falwell or Pat Robertson. Ever. Homosexuals are great and horrible, just like ALL people are. It's a false category.
