They could have definitly. The Appalachian Mountains run through the state I believe somewhere around the Shenandoah River. This mountain chain was probably formed from glaciers. I know of a few places in that chain where glaciers where, for example Lenhartsville, PA the trail goes around a campground where there are huge glacier rocks that where formed when it collapsed.
