Why do scabs get itchy as they heal?

    As far as I can tell, they don't get any itchier than any other part of the body. You just notice because you're not supposed to scratch it.

    When the skin is cut,scabs forms, under the scab healing of wound,repair of cut skin starts.
    Scab when dried,starts to pull the skin from all direction so that skin is repaired & you don`t get any mark.
    This pulling of skin causes the itching.

    Its part of the healing process. the scab starts to shrink and pulls on the skin.
