It wasn't relevant when he was alive. Or do you seriously think the British left because of his non-violence campaign?
-
I would say not so much, especially when dealing with lunatic terrorists who don't care if you fight them or try to befriend them, they will try and kill all of you anyway. When dealing with a conflict of rational entities Ghandi's philosophies may prove to have some worth, when dealing with Bin Laden, etc., the only way to deal with them is to stop them before they get you, and non-violence will only get you killed.

I think that you only ever have one successful attempt at confounding authorities before other regimes take note and find ways around the new method. Take for example, the UK government's approach to laws which would in the past have created martyrs willing to go to jail for their priciples. Now they simply automatically fine you by dipping into your financial resources without your cooperation. No opportunity to have your day in court, no confrontations with bailiff's etc.
-
Yes...I think preaching and living a non-violent life is always relevant.
-
I think that it is still revevent, but unlikly, as, for some reason, we seem to like blowing the crap out of each other more than we used to.. oh the technological advances. It would be great if people would unite like that, but the majority are either too scared or to lazy to try... a sad state of affairs in my opinion.
-
Extremely relevant. Unfortunately, most people are either too scared or selfish to follow it. I've struggled for years just trying to get many of my friends and family to see that.
-
No it isn't.
-
I believe in it, up until the point when violence is a better option.
-
usually but with some people its the only way they stop theyre bullshit is if they get a good beaten.. its sad but thats how it works in some cases
-
Of course but it can never happen
-
It tends to attract the attention of violent people. That can be good for getting the cockroaches into the light, but what do you do then?
-
i m Indian.father of nation mahatma Gandhi gave two words to world=truth n nonviolence=i practice it in my life always=no fight in my life till now-and i will keep my promise in future too.5

I am not sure what your question is asking. Is it that I support non-violence, practice non-violence, admire non-violence or what. I think it is an admirable goal, but from a practical standpoint, for everything there is a season and a time and purpose. When someone is attempting to visit harm to you or your family, well that ain't the time for lengthy speeches.
-
Yes, but sometimes violence is justifiably necessary to quell violence.
-
I am aginst violence in general life....
-
I would be on unemployement if there was no violence or bad folks..........lol
-
Yes. The only way to acheive it is by the Roman axiom, "Let those who seek peace prepare for war".
-
I am violently non-violent. I will kill anybody that tries to get me to adopt violence as an answer.
-
not particularly, if sum1 does sumthing terrible that reely offends me, i will probly get pissed off & tell them off or slap them or sumthing.
-
"Walk softly but carry a big stick." Sums it up pretty well to me.
