My female perspective; I wouldn't mind. It's understandable given that their mother is often their first experience of love. However I wouldn't want to be seen as a total mother-substitute. Nor would it appeal to me if they blindly worshipped her as the epitome of womanhood. Of which I was expected to strive for or emulate. The passion (that they definitely DON'T/WON'T have for their mother) has still got to be there for me. And the knowledge while his mother and I share similar traits, we are NOT the same. And products too of very different eras. Trust this somewhere along the line of your query :)

Why should it make me uncomfortable if my boyfriend took the time to learn from his mother about what he should or shouldn't look for in a woman? Anyway, I don't really know if I'm like my boyfriend's mom. He seems to like me better than her, so I'm probably not.

...my Mother is very intelligent, well read, and generally thoughtful...; these attributes are interesting in girlfriends...but, beyond this, no, I haven't found myself looking for my Mother....
