A fertile imagination can create many mystical, magical and majestic creatures! :)

As the anti-christ I can tell you that that is complete and utter bullshit. God got bored one day and was like..."I've got a horse, and a man...What shall I do? Ah HA! HORSEMAN!" Somehow humans came up with the whole "centaur" thing.

Nah - ancient imaginations testing their limits.

Eugh.... horrible mental image there... Probably not. More like imaginative creations.

I don't know. Do you know World of Warcraft? Do you know how Tauren were created? *cackles*

No. The first centaur was Centaurus. His father was a human named Ixion, and his mother was Nephele, a woman formed from clouds. Ixion had planned to rape Hera, queen of the gods. Zeus knew about this, so he used his magical powers to create an exact double of Hera out of a cloud floating above Mt.Olympus. This was Nephele, the cloud woman. Ixion was fooled by the trick when he saw her. When the gods realised his true intentions towards Hera, they condemned him to Tartarus, the Greek Hell, where he was tied to a flaming wheel and left spinning for eternity. Nephele gave birth to Ixion's son, Centaurus, the forefather of all centaurs. There are no famous accounts of female centaurs in Greek mythology, but some centaurs did inherit Ixion's perverted lusts, including Nessus, the evil centaur who tried to rape the wife of Heracles. So maybe some centaurs did have human mothers. The Minotaur, however, was definitly the result of a woman making love to a bull.

before archiology existed, We had only our imaginations. whenever a battle field was discovered and dug up; Bones of men and horses, or bulls, were mixed. That's how centaurs and minotaurs came to be. Also whenever dinosaur bones were found; they saw them as dragons.
