  • It was the UN that went to determine that "wmd" were being built. Bush was the one that did convince them that this was a necessity. Many countries were threatened with germ warfare and there were rumors of wmd. "SoDamn Insane" Saddam Hussein as you know him, was power hungry and in my belief, no different than Hitler. He would kill anything in his path that did not support him. Much the same with Bin Ladin. And guess who the world would blame if that country died of hunger and terrorist inhumanities? The US did the same by helping eliminate communism in previous wars. Look at what happens to France in the next 5 years.. they buckled to the terrorists now... It will be a sad world if this attitude spreads.
  • This question is based on a false premiss. Weapons of mass destruction were found in Iraq. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/08/13/AR2005081300530.html http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=50746
  • When we went to war in Iraq the Republican's had in place one of the best spin machines ever created. The people of the US felt they had been attacked and someone needed to get an ass whooping form it. The vast majority of American's do not do there own critical thinking they let the media think for them and the Republican machine did a great job of sending out a consistent believable message.
  • Not really. The real reason behnd going to Iraq is not WMD. It is all about Dollar. Saddam agreed with France that he will sell Oil in Euro, which never happened before and was a direct threat to American Dollar dominaiton of the world. So Bush had to go and get rid of him. That's all about it.
  • I am concerned that he went in for ANY reason. I believe he only wanted to have a name for himself like his father who used tremendous tax dollar to nab Noriega. If Bush could have caught Bin Laden, I think Americans would think he was a hero, no matter how much of our money he spent. What a fool. +5
  • yes it is the "bait and switch", but what do you expect with a bush in the office...
  • How many more regimes like this we can eliminate by ourselves? Why we didn't do anything to Nkorea and Pakistan, which is the centre of all terrorism. We instead paying them in millions and more and more terrorists were built in the last some years using our own money in pakistan.
  • The UN weapons inspectors couldn't find any. Which the Bu$hanistas knew about. Yes it is, the 'reasons' for invading Iraq have changed faster than a strobe light. And even Bu$h boy admitted there were NO WMD. AND that Iraq had NOTHING to do with 9/11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_A77N5WKWM But when it comes to rationalization, the Republicans are masters.
  • maybe because they were lied to?
  • Wait! I thought it was because of 9/11. Something to do with 9/11. I couldn't see that thread, but it had something to do with 9/11. Then it was "Iraqi freedom". I thought that was odd, since the Iraqis didn't seem too dis-satisfied. Then something about the oil would pay for it all. I don't know if the reason we were there had changed, but it became okay because the oil would pay for it anyway. Then there were WMDs. Then Saddam. I might have missed a couple.
  • The Homeland Security Act gave Mr. Bush supreme authority to do whatever he wanted.
