I have an Epsom printer like that. I bought a chip programer for a couple of quid that then allowed me to re-program the chip on the cartridge. I can only imagine that it would be the same for lexmark.

Buy real cartridges.

You will need a new chip or a chip resetter, not sure which one is available for your model. You can check out http://www.inkfilling.com/LEXMARK.html and if not clear you can ask on this free ink refill forum http://www.inktelligent.com

I solved my problem by doing the following three things. 1. start menu/programs/administrative tools/ services/ lxdcCATSCustConnectService right-click/properties/general/startup type change from automatic to disabled This should stop printer from connecting to Lexmark server. Doing this stops your computer from sending any information to Lexmark. Another person who tried this said it caused some kind of error. If you get an error, change it back to automatic. 2. c:program filesLx_cats 20A028536035105.A00 c:program filesLx_cats 20A028536035105.A01 c:program filesLx_cats 20A028536035105.tmp If one or more of these files is not in the folder, that is OK; simply change the file attribute on the files you have. Right-clickproperties change all files to read-only. This will stop these files from being updated. This will not stop the chips in the cartridges or the printer from being updated. The idea here is to stop Lexmark spyware from saving information regarding your printer use. 3. control panel/printers and faxes/ Lexmark 1300 Series right-click/properties/advanced/ print processor change from Lexmark 1300/LEMF to WinPrint/RAW This stops all pop-up messages from the printer driver. This is the single most important thing to do. My printer works just as well with WinPrint/RAW as before, but without any pop-up messages. It is possible that this is the only thing you need to do to fix the problem; however, items 1. and 2. above may provide additonal protection from Lexmark. It is possible that changing to WinPrint/RAW stops any Lexmark spyware from working. I have implemented all three of the above changes, and my printer works great. I use 3rd party cartridges and do refills.
