  • ancient Folklore were stories for entertainment, often stories of heroes of a tribe/country with some "special efffects". Mythology is a primitive form of religion, where the stories and gods are an explanation for how the world works (like thunder comes from Zeus, seasons from Demeter who can only in spring leave the underworld etc). Humans have the desire for explanations, so when there was nothing else around, they created mythology. Philosophy (greek for friend of knowledge) is without supernatural explanations. Philosophers deal with questions we can't answer through science, but they use reasoning for their answers. Religion is something that gives you hope, a reason for your life, and a perspective after death. It is surprising how all these four things, ancient folklore, mythology, philosophy and religion, are found in history in many various and independent forms. Humans have the desire to give their life a purpose.
