  • The bottom line is I think we need more information on this. I mean are her parents opposed to you because you are a mass murderer or just not the age, sex, race, religion of their preference. Do they believe that you are jobless or have some major personality flaw or are they paranoid schizophrenics? Are you two 14 or 44? Are they from a conservative religion where girls tend to follow their parents' lead? On second though, in general though, even if their concerns are petty, the ball is no longer in your court. You can't make someone see you, and you shouldn't have to. If your girl is too immature to stand up to her parents and be with who she wants to be, regardless of why, then what can you do? So you win her over then five years in the future, what happens if her parents disagree with you about whether...you should have a baby or any major decision. It wouldn't seem to make sense to hook up with someone who doesn't have enough backbone to vote their own conscious. Then there will always be four people voting on your girl's major life decisions and only one is you. They will have a three to one voting block. Your girl's parents and her (spinelessly throwing her vote to them).
  • This may be both her way and her parents way to take things slowly and should be respected. She's very young, and her parents are obviously concerned for her as they should be. My situation was a little similar to yours. I was 14 when I met the guy who would be my husband one day. He was almost 19! He didn't know I was this young when we met but was shocked to find out. He knew my parents would have a fit about me dating anyone, let alone someone who was that old. But what he did was arrange for a group to go out together, people of all ages, from little ones to older grandmother types and adults in between. And we went out for pizza and to see a movie. We had a great time. Then every time he wanted to take me out, he would make these kinds of arrangements. We saw each other around the neighborhood. I was into horses and he had a motorbike and we each 'rode' all over the hills together. We spent time at the beach as it was right below my home. But it was me as much as my parents that wanted to go slow. I was almost afraid to go too fast. I always thought of dating as something you do to find out if someone was right for you as a marriage partner so we also talked a lot about everything. At 16 he gave me a promise ring and at 17 after he talked to my father, we got engaged. I insisted on being at least 18 when I married. And I was, 18 and 3 months:-) Now I'm 53 and we've been married for almost 35 years and I've never regretted going slow, not having sex before marriage and just spending time being friends. I learned a lot seeing him with all sorts of people and different age groups. That told me more about him than just being alone could have. And I admired and respected him that he thought I was worth the patience of 4 years waiting for me to grow up:-)
  • My best advice is that you need to be respectful and you need to get in good with her parents. As I was growing up parents always liked me so their wasn't any problems with me dating their daughter, but then I never dated anyone 3 years younger then me too. My guess is also you must have done something for them to not like you since you have dated her before. The age difference when your older doesn't make a difference, but when your younger it does. I'm trying to think if your 17 you might be a jr in high school and if she is 14 she might be in 8th grade? That is a big difference then a 28 year old dating a 31 year old.
  • just do something really nice to show them u really love her g2g i am in class hope i helped byee
