Very much so. I have no interest in playing a role in their obscure rituals anymore than I would want to be sacrificed by Aztecs.
-
I'm not sure whether arrogant is the word.....but yes, I certainly would find it most insulting.
-
no and bless you.
-
it would appear to be arrogant, i think diluded is a more fitting word.
-
I certainly do. My first reaction is to get pissed off but I normally end up just controlling myself, because I guess they mean well. Very strange though. I wouldn't do it without feeling arrogant
-
It bugs me a lot. It's like they're patting you on the head and dismissing everything you say or stand for, by thinking you know not what you do. Say things like, yes, I believe that this is what you believe, but you're wrong and I am right. *Pat pat.* Completely pisses me off to no end, and I certainly think that in most cases, arrogance and delusion completely overshadow genuine and true goodwill from the person, as they're ussually not willing to look at other point of views or consider even why you think or believe what you do.
-
No it does not bug me . We are all entitled to our beliefs and maybe they do not know yours. I have a cousin whose opening gambit is the 'Do you believe in Jesus ', I used to find it annoying now I just ignore it .# Ifa person says Bless you , I just say thank you although unless I knew a persons beliegs I would not say it to them.
-
i don't think its arrogant but i find it really tiresome. i have a few "friends" right now who are so sure i'm hellbound because i'm no longer christian and stay with me because i need jesus now more than ever in their minds. i'm glad they care but i do get offended that they can disrespect what i believe in when i don't go around disrespecting them. arrogance wouldn't be the word tho. maybe just well meaning but going about it the wrong way
-
No more arrogant than someone who doesn't believe trying to seek and change the mind of those who do believe. Seem to run into that a touch more, anyway.
-
I find it quite irritating, I dont believe, leave it at that.
-
Why would it irritate me? If someone wants to bless me through THEIR religiion, even if it's different from mine, I, personally think it's that their opinion of me is good enough, not only for MY religion, but for theirs, too. Now trying to convert me, is another story.
-
To be honest, it depends on the delivery! Some folk are genuinely wanting to pay me a compliment or send me on my way with affection - and that's just how they do it - and it doesn't seem arrogant at all. Others do feel they have a duty/want to witness/want me blessed with 'conversion' - that does come across as arrogant - also a little cheapened...
-
...no big deal...whatever makes them happy...seems harmless enough... if anyone seeks to engage in dialog about "conversion," I say "bring it on"...perhaps they'll teach me something...perhaps not...
-
No? We live in troubled times and I can use all the blessings anyone of any creed feels to bestow upon me. If we all just accepted it as possible good fortune irrespective of our own religious persuasion there would be a lot less strife, particularly here on AB :D The above is of course only specifically as far as your Q goes in terms of receiving someone's blessing, not related to proselytising. (You seem to have got a lot of answers from people disliking attempts at conversion, which is an entirely different matter) x

I wouldn't use that word..I think they sincerely believe in their faith and think they are conferring something good on you.
