  • Could be ear mites. See the vet.
  • Ear Mites for sure, they must be pretty bad as well for him to make his ear bleed, you need the proper ear drops from the vet and need to use them for a week, then a week off, then again for a week and repeat, as you need to destroy the eggs also when they hatch.
  • My dog had a similar thing. Everyone told me it was ear mites but treatment didn't help. The vet found it was a yeast infection. The treatment was easy, inexpensive, fast and very effective.
  • Fleas or mites yo... 9 times out of 10 anyway.
  • I've just found this great website: http://www.nationalfleaweek.com its got some really helpful hints on how to detect fleas on your pets and how to treat them. I think the most important thing is to remember the safest thing to do for your pet is to take it to the vet and get expert advice on how to treat your pets if you think you they may have fleas. Also this site tells you how important it is to keep your home flea free because if you only treat your pet they can easily be reinfected. So make sure you wash your pets bedding regularly, treat all the area's where your pet spends lots of time and most importantly vacuume soft furnishings and carpets regularly!
  • It could be ticks, flee's or ear mits. You should treat it asap
  • yes i believe i can help you with this one..I took my dog to the groomer the other day and she said she had dried blood looked like ear mites to her..I took my dog to the vet and sure enough she had the mties. The vet gave her meds a one time dose said that would kill them. You can also get the ones you put in yourself 3 times for 3 weeks but it is only 5 dollars cheaper..I would take your dogto the vet right away because they will only get worse and nothing will kill them but the meds..My dog also shook her head. Hope this helps you out some...
  • Is it fly season where you are? Could be mosquito bites too.

  • My dog had the same thing every1 kept saying ear mites ear mites My vet treated it as ear mites didn't help went to different vet and they sent sample away and it was a yeast infection and they treated it for yeast and his ears have been much much much better since they also gave us an ear cleaner to use on his ears once a week and had no probs since if only we had gone to that vet first time round i wouldn't have had to pay out a fortune for ear mite treatment !!!
  • It sounds like it might be earmites! earmites can look like dirt or dried blood--he should be vet checked asap, as mites are an easily treated affliction.
  • Its probably ear mites. Ear mites can get all the way into the brain if you leave it untreated (this happened to one of my stepfather's dogs). It could also be a yeast infection or a bacterial infection. Best get the dog to the vet.

  • I've just taken my West Highland Terrier to the vet for the same thing and was already treating her for mites and the vet told me to stop immediately as she didn't have mites she has dry skin in her ears, apparently westies are prone to this if they already have a skin condition e.g. eczema
