What does it mean on AB when you see on your feedback "Answer was rated Helpful" then in brackets (+5 or some other +number)? Does that mean someone actually liked your answer?

Yes it does, it means someone rated you up 5 or whatever number.

It means that you received 5 positive points on that answer of yours. Positive points should normally be given for useful answers. If you have reached a higher level on AB, you can give more points. On your profile, section "my ratings", you can read the maximal number of points that you can give for a question, for an answer, positive or negative. The actual number of points that you can give is between you maximum negative and your maximum positive. Personally, I don't give negative points, but that's just me...
