  • No, I don't avoid them, but I know who some of them are. I like to exchange information on here. If it's done in a diplomatic and sincere way, there should be no problems. It's the people who respond in a flipant way that create a bad environment. I will say that sometimes getting DR'd when I've given a sincere anwer will get me going. Occasionally, I expect to get DR'd.
  • I haven't actually gotten to know the 'bad seeds' well enough yet but I never shy away from a debate. An argument on the other hand I will, but only after I have expressed my distaste for their actions
  • What do you think of the necessity giving way to have AB? It is to teach to you not no make easy mental notes about avoiding "argumentative" personalities, and you must grasp its mission to lay facilities in getting touch with some "problem breeding" types fed by every type of conversation and communication!
  • It's not agrueing unless it's with a troll.
  • there has only be a few, but i never really ended up avoiding them anyway, haven't seen them since :P
  • Not at all. Being argumentative doesn't necessarily mean being stupid or immature, which is what I specifically take note to avoid and dismiss. Someone who's hot headed and argumentative in a debate or discussion shows that they genuinely believe or truly strongly feel for what they're stating about, and this sort of person is a lot more fun to discuss things with then with someone who just debates because they think they're right and everyone else is wrong or debates just because they WANT to be right, regardless of the subject. That's actually a lot more immature and unpleasant then someone who ends all their sentences with an exclamation mark. As long as I'm not being flamed or subjected to baseless ridicule or being mocked, it's pretty fine with me, and I'm open to just about anyone, civil or rude, as long as they're smart about it. Arguments are healthy anyway. We can learn a lot that way on both sides.
  • Not really. There have been a few truly offensive folks who I haven't seen lately. I don't avoid anyone if the question interests me!
  • not a mental note I have a list of people I wont attempt to answer their questions.
  • No. I am here to hear people's thoughts and opinions. I want other perspectives, either to validate or moderate my own thoughts or to realize my position is shaky. I have been accused, probably justly, of being arrogant, so I also need to hear it when I have it coming. I love how this place works and I want to hear what people have to say. It is a fabulous social experience. It also gives an old man insight to what the younger generation is thinking about. I can't think of anything better for learning about the people around you than something like AB, assuming people are being honest about their thoughts and feelings. That can only be determined over time.
  • As one who frequently jumps into the hot end of the pool, I resemble that remark.
  • Alright, quit drawing attention to me dood
  • Yeah. I gave the "wrong answer" to one of his questions and he gave me a bit of "attitude", so I told him I wouldn't sully his questions anymore since he doesn't appreciate how I choose to respond.
  • Yes, though of course, I'm not naming them. I mean, I do like having productive debates and discussions, but arguments...no, I just avoid them.
  • There are 3 i avoid like the plague, they are viscious when in a group so i avoid the so-called bullies :)
  • No, but I make mental notes about what trench wars I've had with whom so I won't have to repeat those again and again. Actually it's less of a mental note but an inner voice that shouts "NO, NOT AGAIN!" when I'm just about to answer.
  • Yes, That person likes religion and politics and doesn't take jokes well so I just don't go there.
  • Yes... there are at least two people Ive met since coming to this site that seems bent on downrating after drawing people in with questions. Following that... comes the arguing and put downs in the comments... Id rather not go there.
  • I have certainly found a few to be very argumentative. But I do not want to avoid them in any specific way. I am willing to argue if necessary.
  • NO Yes - what do you mean "argumentative" - I object!
  • I met one Jack@$$,but other than that, none so bad as to avoid.
  • Only the ones that I know can't be reasoned with no matter what anyone says. Why waste the energy?
  • No , because if I as much as sniff confrontation I'm off on my merry way. Learnt my lessons early on.
  • There are a couple of people on here, who are just plain rude, so I avoid them. If it is a reasonable debate, I have no problem, with that.
  • There are a few that I've found to be obsessed with arguing their point to the bitter end. I remember who they are and I'm not going out of my way to answer their questions but if they do ask a question that interests me I'll answer it. I really enjoyed it when I saw some of them going after each other. :D
  • Very few but yes there are, I avoid them.
  • Catholic31, that guy is out of control!
  • meh, nobody really. some topics i avoid with certain people because i don't want to say something stupid - or read something stupid either. but actual users? the only ones i avoid are trolls
  • There are a few but as long as I don't enter the categories they answer in, no need to avoid them. Regards.
  • No. Argumentation is not always bad. Even if I notice that someone has bad arguments or offensive ones, I would not avoid to answer their good questions or comment on their answers in the future. But I would probably avoid to stay too long in a useless discussion.
  • even if there was why would that person say their name here because then it would start an argument
  • Nope, I seek them out. Glutton for punishment or principled? Dunno, but I'm not avoiding anyone to avoid a healthy debate. I'll listen to anyone as long as they have an intelligent position. Come out of your face and act stupid and belligerent, well, that's another story.
