  • Just my opinion here, but "running" is trying to escape before even trying to solve a problem. Whereas "withdrawing" is more like walking away from a problem that is unsolvable, or which cannot be solved using the current methods. . The fact that hundreds of thousands of soldiers have been sent to a warzone, fought, and made a lot of progress -- all in a war which was based on miscontrued intelligence and hidden agendas -- means a withdrawal of forces wouldn't be running away; it wouldn't simply be a much-needed acknowledgement from the government that they aren't always right, and that bombing countries isn't always the answer...which could, hopefully, lead to a more progressive plan.
  • I do understand, and thats why I have returned. Live long and prosper...
  • same reason people can't understand that this war wasn't the greatest idea in the first place, i guess. (alright, that was a little harsh; it is just my opinion, and you're entitled to your own.)
  • Because it's not. Sometimes deciding to do nothing is the right and real decision.
  • Because it is not, retreat is in fear, withdrawing is because of the fact that that the war was/is unjust and by being there the involved governments are committing war crimes. Entirely different, it's about intent.
  • Withdrawing, sense involved whereas running away scare involved, couldn't have made the answer shorter...
  • Imagine you stumbled into someone's house by mistake, then realized you did not belong there.
  • Because it was a huge mistake from start. A major blunder. My 2 cents.
