Why is that most people call anyone wearing glasses, a nerd, when clearly, some people who wear glasses look great when they're not wearing them?

They're just being horrible and trying to bring down the person's self esteem. The name caller is probably worried that if the person wearing the glasses takes them off, then they'll pose some competition. Also, the name caller is probably seeing a reflective image of themselves. They see that they have an ugly personality, so try pass this onto the person wearing glasses.

I think that trend is beginning to disappear. My daughter got glasses. She was really upset that she was told to wear them full time and was terrified about what her friends would think, but they all keep encouraging her and telling her how great she looks in them -- which is true!
