  • The best thing you can do is ask your Mom. You shouldnt be scared to ask her something like this. Its something she should be explaining to you anyway. Even if its uncomfortable.
  • Tampons take practise. You can get Mini ones to start off with, they are tiny and easy to use.
  • i just got my period and i am also 14 years old. i succesfully inserted one the third day of my period. DO NOT be uncomfortable to ask ur mom because she went/goes through the same thing as you.there are smaller sizes like junior which is what i use and i have a some what heavy period but i always wear a panti liner with it just incase it leaks. 1.Relax! Try not to worry about inserting the tampon right the first time. If you are tense it will make insertion harder. 2.The best time to practice inserting a tampon is during the heavy part of your period. The tampon should glide inside your vagina easily without any discomfort. 3.Decide if you prefer to insert the tampon standing or sitting. If sitting is your preference, sit on the toilet. If you want to try standing, putting one foot on the bathtub helps. 4.Hold the tampon applicator in your right hand if you are right-handed, or left if left-handed. Use your thumb and middle finger to hold the bottom of the larger, outer tube. 5.Point the tip of the applicator toward your vagina, facing slightly towards the back. The smaller tube should be pointed away from your body. Use your other hand to open your vagina. Place the tip of the applicator at the opening of your vagina. 6.Gently push the smaller end of the applicator in until it is completely inside the larger outer tube. This pushes the tampon into your vagina and out of the tube. 7.With your thumb and middle finger still on the outer tube, release the smaller tube and let the strings dangle freely. 8.Gently pull the two tubes out together. Dispose of the applicator according to the manufactuer's instructions. 9.When you are ready to remove the tampon, gently pull the withdrawl strings down and forward. The used tampon may be flushed down the toilet. Tips: 1.Lubricating the rounded end of the tampon with a water-based lubricant such as K-Y Jelly can make insertion easier the first few times. Don't use petroleum jelly. 2.Always read the manufactuer's instructions throughly before using any type of tampon. 3.If the tampon feels uncomfortable it is probably not inserted far enough into your vagina. Try again with a new tampon.
  • i am 13 and i just literally tried tampons 2 days ago! i just used one out of the machines in like a store bathroom and i successfully put one in after the second try and now im hooked! when i use a tampon it doesnt feel like you have your period and they are really easy to insert.. i use playtex gentle glide the slender applicator and i just asked my mom and she said i can! i never regretted asking her either.. it was totally worth it!! heres a link with a diagram on where and how to insert one...http://www.youngwomenshealth.org/tampon.html hope i helped good luck!!
  • Whatever you and the other newbies use, make sure you change them OFTEN. You can get a really nasty and potentially fatal infection called toxic shock if you leave them in more than a few hours.
  • Honestly, ask your mom. There's nothing wrong with it, don't be embarassed. She went through it too. :) I know it sux wearing pads, but honestly it's the best thing to use. You should only use tampons if you are going to swim or if you are going to be running around a lot. You should know that if you wear tampons, you do have to wear panty liners as they do leak at times. And I'm sure you don't want stains on your pants or anywhere else. There are many health risks associated with wearing tampons, and also the danger of getting one stuck if you put it in too far or if the string come off the tampon itself.
  • use the plastic ones ino the cardboard ones hurt me but once you use a tampon you will never use a pad ever again and they have slender ones gentle glyde and there are directions in the box and a little diagram suprisingly that helped me when i first used one
  • You can get really slim ones and I would suggest using plastic. Make sure that once the tampon in place, it's not really uncomfortable/painful. If it is, take it out and apply another. It took me a few times to get it right when I first tried. Make sure you change them at least every 5 hours too. Look at the instructions that come in every box for more info.
