  • Actually yes it can. Any smoke can harm the computer over the long term - the hard drive in particular. I did not make this up. Many people think hard drives are a sealed unit - they are not - in fact, hard drives need air to work. Smoke particles are bigger than the gap between a hard drive's heads and the platters they float above, so smoke particles are kind of like a giant boulder being thrown in front of a car. You never 'see' the damage, but techs have known for years that a smoker's hard drive will last less time than one operating in a clean environment. Incense smoke is no different. Sorry to be a bummer.
